The Kia collided with the tire and was propelled several feet off the roadway before flipping in the air

In a perfect ‘wrong place at the wrong time’ scenario a car went airborne after colliding with a wheel that came off a pick up truck on a California freeway on Thursday.

A dashcam from a vehicle at the right place at the right time captured the freak crash.

According to Fox News, the incident occurred on Thursday on the Ronald Reagan Freeway in the Chatsworth neighborhood of Los Angeles.

In the footage captured by Anoop Khatra, who was driving behind the dark-colored Kia Soul in the left lane, a white pickup truck was driving in the adjacent lane when its front-left tire suddenly popped loose and shot out in front of the Kia.

The Kia collided with the tire and was propelled several feet off the roadway before flipping in the air and landing on its roof, rolling several times before eventually landing right-side-up.

The stray wheel for a few seconds disappears from the shot but continues to roll and resurfaces in the footage. As if it hasn’t done enough damage, it hits the rear of the vehicle and also goes airborne before coming to rest near the car.

Meanwhile, the pickup truck rolled across the freeway to the right shoulder and came to a stop.

The driver of the Kia was the only occupant and appeared to walk away without significant injuries, according to Khatra.

The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed that there were no major injuries resulting from the incident. The California Highway Patrol, which said that the Kia driver suffered minor injuries, attributed the loose tire to sheared-off lug nuts.
