11 Dead, Three Injured in Devastating N2 Collision Near Dutywa

Eleven people lost their lives, and three sustained injuries in a horrific head-on collision between a minibus taxi and a bakkie on the N2 near Dutywa late last night.

According to provincial transport spokesperson Unathi Binqose, eight individuals in the taxi — four men and four women — were killed. Two survived but were seriously injured.

Of the four people in the bakkie, three succumbed to their injuries, leaving one critically injured.

Emergency services rushed to the scene, where the aftermath of the crash painted a grim picture. The injured were transported to nearby hospitals, where they are receiving urgent medical care.

Binqose highlighted that the N2 near Dutywa has a notorious reputation for being the most dangerous stretch of road in South Africa, calling for immediate action to address the high accident rates.
