reinhardt transport tipper divison retrenchments

Reinhardt Transport is consulting with its drivers about looming retrenchments as the transport giant faces the closure of its tipper division.

In a communique addressed to Reinhardt Transport Tipper Division drivers which SA Trucker has seen, the management says that the company has been running under severe losses and the situation has arrived at a point where the company cannot endure any further losses which in fact are unavoidable.

“This is not even taking the negative effect of Covid-19 into account,” reads part of the communique.

The company goes on to inform the drivers of the closure of the tipper division and request for their input in the unavoidable retrenchments they face.

111 truck drivers and office staff from the tipper division are set to lose their jobs.

The retrenchments come with no chance of reemployment as operations will cease to exist, the management says.

Drivers are further reminded in conclusion of the memorandum that a meeting will be set up to discuss issues concerning the finalisation of the retrenchments after consultations are done.
