3 killed, 10 injured in KZN accident

Three people were killed in a collision between a car and a bakkie on Sunday night in Mandeni.

The accident occurred between Mandeni and the steel bridge over the Tugela River in the evening at about 8pm.

IPSS Medical Rescue’s Dylan Merick said the scene was a total mess, with the vehicle wreckages and the victims scattered all over.

Three people succumbed to their injuries on the scene and six suffered serious injuries. The injured were stabilised and transported to hospital for further care.

Among the six, two suffered limb amputations.

“Four people were treated for minor injuries,” he said.

The cause of the accident is not known but SAPS attended the scene to further investigate.
