A speedster who recorded himself driving at 308km/h on a Johannesburg highway is behind bars.
The Department of Transport said that the 36-year-old man was arrested on Sunday after he was “tracked down to a funeral in Limpopo by undercover investigators”.
Spokesperson, Ayanda Allie-Paine, said that the alleged speedster, who lives in Midrand, faces charges of reckless and negligent driving.
The driver, in an Audi, recorded himself charging down the N1 Southbound highway in Midrand and posted it online.
The video went viral online attracting a lot of criticism from the public.
Allie-Paine said Transport Minister Fikile Mbalula welcomed his arrest.
