Five people including a 5-year-old boy and a 6-year-old girl have died in multiple car crash on N1 between Kranskop toll gate and Bela Bela in Limpopo.
According to Spokesperson for the Department of Transport, Matomi Moremi-Taueatsoala, a truck, a SUV and two sedans were involved in the collision.
It is alleged that one of the cars recklessly overtook on a barrier lane and collided with a Volvo truck, both vehicles then collided with two more cars.
“Both southbound lanes have been closed and the department can now confirm that five people have been killed,” Moremi-Taueatsoala said.
He urged motorists to delay their journeys while authorities attended to the scene. Traffic is being diverted to R101 which is already heavily congested.
