Image Freight Logistics (IFL) have written to SA Trucker denying allegations of an assault that allegedly took place at the company premises according to reports.
Reports had alleged that the owner of IFL, Mr Anthony Sivalingam allegedly assaulted his truck driver accusing him of overspeeding. It was further alleged that his company only employed non-South Africans and that he threatens to unleash his dogs to any driver who fails to perform as required.
SA Trucker contacted Sivalingam asking him to comment on the allegations.
Through his lawyer, Michell Brown, Sivalingam denies the allegations.
“It is vehemently denied that our client or any agent, employee or person associated with our client assaulted or threatened to assault any truck driver or other employee for speeding or any other alleged reasons,” stated Brown.
“It is further denied that our client or any agent, employee or person associated with our
client threatened to harm any truck driver or employee in any way, including unleashing
any animal to cause harm to such a truck driver, employee, or any other person. The allegation that our client only employs Zimbabweans to oppress and underpay them
is absolutely unfounded and untrue and denied in its entirety.” read the statement.
SA Trucker spoke to the victim of the alleged assault (name withheld) and he confirmed the assault but said he did not want to comment further on the matter.
SA Trucker is possession of audio recordings allegedly sent by the victim after the incident.
