On Saturday night Netcare 911 paramedics received a call from the Amanzimtoti fire department requesting assistance with a patient that sustained a head injury.
Reports indicate that the man was hit by a car, bystanders then put him in a vehicle and drove him to the fire station.
Two Netcare 911 paramedics and the ambulance crew arrived at the fire station and found the man to have sustained life-threatening injuries.
The patient was placed on a ventilator and stabilised before he was transported to hospital for the care that he required.
