At least eight people have been killed in a serious crash on the N4 in Elands Valley, Mpumalanga, according to reports from Newzroom Africa.
The collision occurred between Hemlock and Arlie, prompting the closure of the N4 while emergency services and law enforcement officials attend to the scene.
It’s reported that an articulated truck collided head-on with a minibus taxi.
Road operator TRAC N4 Route issued an alert advising motorists that the road is currently closed at N4/6X km 34.6W and that traffic is being diverted via Schoemanskloof until further notice.
While details remain limited, Newzroom Africa reports that the crash involved a minibus taxi and an articulated truck. Authorities have not yet released an official statement confirming the circumstances of the collision or the number of people injured.

Witnesses at the scene described a devastating incident, with multiple casualties visible on the roadway shortly after the crash. Emergency personnel remain on scene conducting rescue, recovery and investigation operations.
The closure has resulted in significant disruptions for motorists travelling along the route, with road users urged to exercise caution, follow official detour instructions and expect delays.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
