ATDF-ASA Warns Trucking Industry of Suspended Members Extorting Money from Employers

The All Truck Drivers Forum and Allied South Africa (ATDF-ASA) has issued a stern warning to trucking companies and drivers in Gauteng, alerting them about three suspended members falsely representing the organization and extorting money.

The three individuals in question — Delibandla Maxethuka, Xolani Qubeka, and Wilfred Mngenela — are accused of approaching trucking companies and demanding protection fees while claiming to still hold positions within ATDF-ASA.

Maxethuka was the Gauteng Chairperson, Qubeka the Deputy Chairperson, and Mngenela the Treasurer before their suspension due to allegations of corruption.

The organization has clarified that these members were suspended and have no authority to conduct any business on behalf of the association.

The trio allegedly forged a letter, purporting it to be from the ATDF-ASA, which falsely indicated their good standing and authority within the organization.

The letter also falsely claimed that it was signed by Secretary General Gugu Sokhela, who has since distanced himself from the document.

Armed with this letter, they are alleged to have approached trucking companies in Gauteng saying they were representing the organization.

“I have nothing to do with that letter, and I want to make it clear that the organization’s stance remains unchanged. The three individuals are still suspended, and their corruption cases are ongoing,” said Sokhela in an exclusive interview with SA Trucker.

Sokhela strongly warned trucking companies and the general public not to engage with Maxethuka, Qubeka, or Mngenela, as they are currently not authorized to represent ATDF-ASA in any capacity.

He urged anyone approached by the trio to report the incident immediately to the authorities or the organization.

The ATDF-ASA emphasized that they remain committed to transparency and integrity, and any attempt to tarnish their reputation would be met with legal action. Sokhela can be contacted on 0645410078
