Two truck drivers have lost their lives after their trucks burst into flames following a head-on accident on N2 in KZN on Saturday afternoon.
The collision happened on the N2 near the Mtunzini Toll Plaza on the KZN North Coast.
Netcare 911’s Shawn Herbst said they responded to the accident at 13h07.
Reports from the scene indicate that two trucks, one being a tanker transporting a flammable liquid collided resulting in both trucks overturning blocking to N2 completely.
The trucks had caught alight and were completely destroyed.
Once the Fire and Rescue Services had doused the flames an assessment was done by an Advanced life support paramedic who found that both the drivers of the trucks had burned to death in the crash.
“The N2 still remains closed with authorities work to remove the wreckage from the road,” said Herbst.
