Bpo bans foreign drivers

BPO Operations Director Aron Amarchund has banned the induction or reinduction of foreign national truck drivers and advised sub-contractors to prioritise employing local drivers.

The move effectively bans immigrant drivers to do business with BPO as they need induction to enter the company’s warehouses.

This is revealed in an email he wrote to transporters working BPO and staff yesterday, April the 4th.

He wrote:

Good day All,
Please be advised as of immediate effect NO FOREIGN DRIVERS will be inducted or re inducted
at BPO, its in your best interest to use LOCAL DRIVERS, please treat this seriously.

I will be putting in time frames soon.

BPO Transport please ensure that all transporters get this mail, thanks.

The move by BPO is a win for ATDF-ASA who have been campaigning for the removal of foreign drivers and have them replaced by South Africans.

It was not immediately clear if Amarchund’s instruction affected legally employed foreign nationals or not.
