VHEMBE, LIMPOPO – Traffic has been severely disrupted on the N1 South in Limpopo after a bus reportedly lost control and overturned near the Baobab Toll Gate on Monday morning.
According to the Limpopo Department of Transport and Community Safety, the crash occurred approximately 8 kilometres south of the Baobab Toll Gate in the Hartley area of the Vhembe District.
Preliminary reports indicate that the bus overturned after the driver lost control of the vehicle. Emergency services, traffic officials and other relevant stakeholders were immediately dispatched to the scene and are currently managing the incident.
Authorities confirmed that the road has been closed to traffic while emergency personnel attend to the scene. Motorists travelling through the area are being diverted, with vehicles currently using the road shoulder to bypass the accident site.
At the time of publication, the extent of injuries remained unclear. Reports suggest that several people may have been injured in the crash, although no fatalities had been confirmed by authorities.
The Limpopo Department of Transport and Community Safety has urged motorists to exercise extreme caution when approaching the area, reduce speed and comply with instructions from traffic officials on site.

Traffic congestion and significant delays are expected as emergency teams continue with recovery and investigation operations.
Officials said further information regarding the cause of the crash, the number of occupants involved and the extent of injuries will be released once details have been verified.
Motorists travelling along the N1 South between Musina and Polokwane are advised to consider possible delays and plan their journeys accordingly.
