Car rear-ends truck killing man, Witbank.

A man, believed to be in his 20s, was killed early morning on friday after his light motor vehicle rear-ended a truck on the N12, roughly 45km from Witbank in Mpumalanga.

ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene shortly after 06h00 and found the truck and light motor vehicle in the middle of the slow lane.

The light motor vehicle was found crushed beneath the rear of the truck.

On assessment, paramedics found the driver of the light motor vehicle lying trapped and showed no signs of life. Unfortunately, the man had already succumbed to his multiple, fatal injuries.

Nothing more could be done for the patient and he was declared dead on the scene.

The driver of the truck escaped this incident without injury.

Towing services utilised their winches to free the light motor vehicle from beneath the truck. Shortly after, rescue services used the jaws-of-life equipment to free the deceased body from the vehicle.

The cause of this incident will be subject to the investigation of local authorities.
