GRAPHIC CCTV footage has captured the terrifying moment a truck failed to negotiate a sharp bend on the R321 at Appelkoosdraai in the Western Cape.
The crash happened along the R321 between Grabouw and Villiersdorp, with CCTV footage showing the truck approaching the bend at what appears to be a very high speed.
The truck can be seen coming down the hill towards the sharp curve before seemingly losing control.
It then violently shoots straight through the bend, leaving the roadway and crashing heavily into the embankment.
The impact was severe, with the truck coming to an abrupt stop after striking the embankment.
The footage gives a frightening indication of just how quickly things can go wrong when a heavy vehicle enters a sharp downhill bend at excessive speed.
According to reports circulating on social media, the truck driver sadly lost his life in the horrific crash.
