CCTV Footage Shows Bethelsdorp Crash as Truck Veers Into Oncoming Lane

Bethelsdorp, EC – Shocking CCTV footage has surfaced online showing the moment a fatal crash occurred on a notorious stretch of Stanford Road outside Port Elizabeth on Friday morning, claiming the life of a motorist.

The footage, which has been widely shared on social media, captures a white Isuzu truck travelling without any apparent issues before suddenly veering into the oncoming lane at the precise moment a white Honda sedan approaches.

The two vehicles collide head-on, resulting in the tragic death of the Honda’s driver.

Police spokesperson Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg confirmed the incident and said authorities were still trying to identify the deceased.

“At about 11:20 am, an Isuzu truck was travelling on Stanford Road from Bethelsdorp towards Gelvandale when it suddenly swerved into the opposite lane, colliding head-on with a Honda sedan heading towards Bethelsdorp,” she said.

The driver of the sedan was alone in the vehicle and died at the scene. His body remained trapped inside the wreckage while emergency responders worked to free him.

Meanwhile, the truck driver was rushed to the hospital in a Gardmed ambulance.

The deceased is described as light in complexion and was wearing a pink Uzzi shirt, blue boxer shorts, black Adidas tracksuit pants, and black Adidas takkies at the time of the accident.

Police have opened a culpable homicide case as investigations into the crash continue. Authorities are urging anyone who may recognize the deceased or have additional information to come forward.

Local residents have since voiced their concerns over the dangerous nature of the road blaming speeding for many of the crashes in the area.
