CCTV footage has surfaced revealing how a fatal crash between a side tipper truck and a motorbike happened on the N12 in Kimberley.
Early reports claimed that the side tipper had overturned for unknown reasons as the motorbike was not clearly visible to witnesses who passed the scene after the crash.
However, the footage shows the motorbike speeding and moving onto the truck’s lane before colliding with its front right wheel. The force of the impact caused the heavy truck to lose balance and overturn. Sadly, the biker died at the scene.
This incident should remind the public not to rush to blame truck drivers before knowing the full story. Trucking is a demanding job that requires long hours, focus, and endurance. While fatigue and road hazards are constant challenges for truckers, many accidents involving trucks are caused by other motorists who take unnecessary risks or misjudge situations on the road.

Because trucks are large and the damage from their crashes is usually severe, people often assume the truck driver is to blame even when that’s not the case. This footage clearly shows why it’s important to check the facts before pointing fingers.
At this stage, the condition of the truck driver is not known. It is also unclear why the biker crossed into the wrong lane, leading to the tragic collision.
Our heartfelt condolences go out to the biker’s family and friends.
