Couple livestreams baby birth on facebook

In what is perhaps the most personal use of Facebook Live, a US couple has shared the birth of their son with the world – by livestreaming the entire event.

The intense video, posted on May 17, was shot by the woman’s husband, Fakamalo Kihe Eiki.

It was filmed at her bedside and lasts 45 minutes.

About 3000 people tuned in to watch the labour live.

In the clip, the California woman is heard being encouraged by the nurse and her husband to push.

Her son emerged with a full head of hair at the 38-minute mark.

“Thanks guys for enjoying the gift of life with me,” Eiki, originally from Tonga, told viewers.

The video has garnered over 37,000 views
