A truck crash on Thursday afternoon on the R301 Wemmershoek Road, Franschhoek, left one person injured. Dashcam footage from a vehicle following behind the truck captured the moment of the accident and shed light on the events leading up to the crash.
The dashcam video, recorded from a vehicle travelling at around 70 km/h, shows the truck as the third vehicle ahead. In the footage, the truck suddenly veers off the road over the left shoulder.
It continues off the road for a brief distance, being kept in check by the guard rails. However, the truck eventually jumps over the rails and crashes into the bush, coming to a halt.
Paramedics arrived at the scene promptly and attended to one individual, who sustained injuries in the crash. The severity of the injuries remains unclear, and updates on the victim’s condition are expected to follow.

The cause of the crash is not yet known, but fatigue cannot be ruled out, as it appears the truck was not hindered by anything in the footage.
