It seems this South African motorist was always ready to outsmart criminals in whichever way they would attack.
According to a social media post shared by the driver himself, he successfully evaded hijackers who targeted him on the Dutoitskloof Pass near Paarl.
The video is dated 29 December 2024.
In a dashcam video that has since gone viral, the motorist is seen driving up the pass when a white Corsa bakkie coming from the opposite direction suddenly blocks his path.
Sensing imminent danger, the quick-thinking driver immediately engages reverse gear as several men jump out of the bakkie.
Without hesitation, the motorist speeds away in reverse, keeping a safe distance from the suspects’ car.
The suspects, realising their plan has backfired, start pursuing him in their vehicle, leaving behind the men who had disembarked.
The smart motorist drives in reverse on the oncoming to avoid colliding with vehicles coming from behind him.
This proves to be exceptionally smart when a truck passes safely on his left while the Corsa bakkie is hot on his nose.
