Dashcam footage showing a tragic head-on collision between a truck and a bakkie on the N1 north just before Polokwane has emerged online.
The accident occurred on Wednesday, 20 November 2024.
In the footage, captured from the truck’s onboard camera, the truck is seen travelling northbound on the N1 when a bakkie in the southbound lane suddenly veers into the truck’s path.
The truck driver has no time to avoid the collision, resulting in a devastating head-on crash.
The impact forces the truck off the road, but the driver manages to keep the vehicle upright despite the severity of the collision.

Photos sent to SA Trucker show extensive damage to both vehicles.
The truck’s right-hand side was completely destroyed, while the bakkie was reduced to a wreck.
It has been reported that the driver of the bakkie, along with some passengers, tragically lost their lives in the crash. However, official confirmation of the fatalities is still pending.
