A truck driver had a narrow escape when his rig overturned after a violent head-on crash with a bakkie on the R329 outside Bredasdorp in the Western Cape.
According to dashcam footage from the truck involved in the incident, the heavy vehicle was cruising at about 85km/h, keeping steady on its lane, when disaster struck. A bakkie, approaching from the opposite direction, suddenly swerved across the centre line straight into the truck’s path.
With no time or space to react, the two vehicles smashed into each other. The force of the impact pushed the truck off the road, where it crashed through the roadside before overturning onto its side.
From the footage, the trucker had absolutely no chance to avoid the collision.
Emergency services rushed to the scene. At the time of publishing, details about injuries or fatalities had not yet been confirmed.
