A dashcam video has surfaced showing the dramatic moment a rigid tanker truck crashed into a stationary side tipper interlink about 20 km from Middelburg towards Colesberg on the N10.
In the footage, the tanker can be seen approaching the parked side tipper on the shoulder of the road before clipping the trailers on its left-hand side. The impact caused the tanker to overturn and land on its side.
The rigid tanker driver sustained serious injuries. He was taken to the hospital for further care.
The exact cause of the crash is not yet known. Authorities are investigating, though driver fatigue or distraction have not been ruled out.
