A terrifying crash on the N1 southbound just past The Ranch outside Polokwane was caught on dashcam, showing the chilling moment a bakkie lost control and overturned directly into the path of an oncoming truck.
The incident happened just before 07h00 on Monday, 16 September, and the video — shot from the truck’s onboard camera — has since surfaced online, leaving many viewers stunned by how quickly things turned catastrophic.
In the footage, the truck driver is seen cruising along his route, minding his own business, when a bakkie travelling from the opposite direction suddenly starts overturning. The bakkie appears to lose control due to the trailer it was towing, which begins swaying before pulling the vehicle off balance and causing it to flip.
Within seconds, it rolls straight into the truck’s lane. With a steep embankment and the pillars of an overpass bridge boxing him in on the left, the trucker has absolutely nowhere to escape. In a desperate and heartbreaking moment, he lets out a scream — fully aware he’s about to be involved in a violent collision and powerless to avoid it.

Moments later, the two vehicles smash into each other with tremendous force. The video cuts off before showing how the truck came to a stop, but pictures taken afterwards reveal that it was completely engulfed in flames. The bakkie was left mangled beyond recognition.
At the time of writing, the condition of those involved in the crash could not be immediately confirmed.
