Dashcam Captures Truck Driver Robbed by Suspected Fake Traffic Officers on N1

A truck driver was allegedly robbed by three men dressed in traffic police uniforms on the N1 near Orange Farm on 5 June 2026, and footage of the incident is now being circulated in the hope that members of the public may recognise the suspects.

According to the driver’s account, he was travelling on the N1 when he was stopped by three men wearing khaki traffic police uniforms. The men were travelling in a white Toyota Corolla.

The driver said he did not initially suspect anything was wrong and stopped his truck as instructed.

However, after stepping out of the truck, he was allegedly confronted by one of the men, who pointed a firearm at him. The suspect then allegedly forced the driver towards another vehicle before the three men drove away.

While being taken away, the driver could hear the suspects speaking to someone on the phone. He later realised that the person they were communicating with appeared to be inside his truck.

The suspects apparently intended to return to the truck, but the driver had not managed to start it. They therefore turned around and returned to the truck.

When the suspects stopped at the truck, the driver managed to escape.

The suspect in the truck can be seen grabbing whatever he can, including the driver’s firearm and wallet.

The incident was subsequently reported to the South African Police Service at Barrage Police Station. A case was opened under case number 15/06/2026.

The circumstances raise serious concerns for truck drivers travelling along the N1, particularly where criminals allegedly use traffic police uniforms and a marked-looking vehicle to convince motorists to stop.

Do you recognise any of the men in the footage, or the white Toyota Corolla?

Anyone who may have information that could assist the investigation should contact the police.
