Dashcam Exposes Truth Behind Side-Tipper Crash Near Camden Power Station

SA Trucker has obtained dashcam footage shedding light on a side-tipper crash near Camden Power Station this week.

The video not only reveals the true cause of the accident but also dispels the common narrative that side-tipper drivers are often at fault in such incidents.

Initially reported as a single-vehicle crash, many assumed the driver was fatigued and lost control of the truck. However, the footage tells a completely different story.

In the video, the truck driver is navigating the road as part of his routine.

Several vehicles pass safely in the opposite direction, but the situation dramatically turns when a bakkie recklessly attempts to overtake directly into the truck’s path.

Faced with a split-second decision, the truck driver swerves sharply to the left to avoid what could have been a fatal head-on collision.

His heroic manoeuvre likely saved the bakkie driver’s life but caused the truck to overturn, coming to rest on its side.

Shockingly, witnesses and the footage confirm that the bakkie driver fled the scene, leaving the trucker to escape his overturned vehicle on his own.

Thankfully, the truck driver sustained only minor injuries and is reported to be recovering.

This incident highlights the unfair blame often placed on truck drivers in crashes.

The stereotype of overworked, careless truckers doesn’t hold up in situations like this, where the trucker’s quick thinking prevented a tragedy at great personal risk.

It remains unclear whether the bakkie driver will face charges for their involvement.
