Dashcam footage has surfaced, shedding light on the tragic accident that claimed eight lives on the N2 at Mandeni last Friday.
The heart-wrenching video shows a Toyota Avanza veering out of control and crashing through the centre divider fence, heading straight into the path of an oncoming truck that was driving in the far left lane.
Among the eight deceased were seven high school learners who were being transported in the Avanza.
The crash has left the community in mourning, with many expressing shock and devastation at the untimely loss of such young lives.
IPSS Medical Rescue spokesperson Samantha Meyrick described the scene as one of “total carnage,” as emergency responders battled to assist at the chaotic crash site.
According to Meyrick, the Avanza collided head-on with the truck, resulting in a scene of utter devastation.

Tragically, the driver of the Avanza also lost his life in the crash.
The only survivor was the truck driver, who was critically injured and remains in hospital.
Authorities are still investigating the cause of the accident, but the footage suggests the Avanza lost control before crossing into the oncoming traffic.
The incident has left a massive scar on the Mandeni community, with condolences pouring in from across the country.
