Dashcam Footage Sheds Light on N1 Jackknife Crash Near Sandton

*Newly surfaced dashcam footage has provided insight into the dramatic truck accident just after Winnie Mandela Drive on the N1 North.

Unfortunately, the truck driver did not survive the accident.

The video shows the truck travelling steadily in the far-left lane before accelerating to 99km/h to overtake a bus.

Moments later, brake lights from vehicles ahead can be seen illuminating, and in an instant, the truck starts swerving uncontrollably before jackknifing.

While the exact cause of the crash remains unclear, the footage suggests that the driver may have applied brakes suddenly to avoid colliding with slowing traffic ahead.

Given the wet road conditions due to heavy rainfall, this likely contributed to the truck losing control.
