Dashcam Shows How a Car and a Truck Swerved into Each Other in Fatal N3 Crash

Dashcam footage circulating online has shed light on how the fatal crash on the N3 near Roadside unfolded on Saturday morning.

According to information seen in the footage, a container truck was travelling steadily in the left lane under normal traffic conditions. Visibility appears clear, and the truck maintains a consistent line with no sudden movements.

Moments later, a light motor vehicle suddenly appears directly ahead of the truck in the same lane. With only seconds to react, the truck driver attempts an evasive manoeuvre by swerving into the right lane, which appears clear at the time.

Tragically, at that exact moment, the car also swerves to the right. The two vehicles collide head-on with severe impact. The force of the collision sends the truck across the oncoming lanes, where it comes to rest in a jackknife position on the opposite side of the road.

Paramedics who responded to the scene confirmed that one occupant of the car sustained fatal injuries and was declared dead at the scene. The condition of the truck driver has not been detailed, but the driver is understood to have survived the crash.

The footage highlights a split-second decision scenario many truckers know all too well. When something suddenly appears in your lane, instinct takes over, but when both drivers choose the same escape route, the outcome can be catastrophic.

Authorities are expected to investigate the circumstances that led to the car being in the truck’s lane and whether mechanical failure, loss of control, or driver error played a role. No official statement has yet been released regarding possible charges or contributing factors.

The incident has sparked renewed debate among road users about evasive actions during emergencies. Experienced drivers often warn that swerving right to avoid a head-on situation can be deadly if the oncoming vehicle attempts the same move. However, with very little time to react, drivers choose the option they believe gives them the best chance of survival, regardless of what anyone else may think.

Motorists are urged to remain alert, maintain safe following distances, and remember that on high-speed routes like the N3, a single second can be the difference between a close call and a fatal outcome.
