A truck driver and his female accomplice have been arrested after they were caught red-handed siphoning diesel from a truck on the M13 in Westmead, near Pinetown.
Marshall Security reported that a response officer on patrol spotted the driver siphoning diesel from a Scania truck.
The fuel was being transferred into containers loaded in the back of a nearby sedan.
Upon being confronted, the truck driver allegedly jumped into the vehicle and fled the scene.
Marshall Security’s GWA Tactical Team and Special Operations Team were quickly called in to pursue the suspect.
They managed to catch up with the truck at the N2 north Petroport and apprehended the driver.
Both the driver and his female accomplice are now in police custody, facing charges related to the theft of diesel.
The incident highlights the ongoing issue of fuel theft, a problem that continues to plague the trucking industry.
