A male driver was sadly killed in an accident between a car career ultra heavy vehicle and a bakkie earlier this morning on the N3 freeway.
At approximately 08h00 on Wednesday 05 July 2017, Netcare 911 responded to the scene of the fatal accident on the N3 near to the Roadside Reitz off-ramp in the Free State.
Reports from the scene indicate that a bakkie and a truck were involved in a partial head-on collision. The exact details and preceding events will form part of a police investigation.
Paramedics, rescuers, and police all responded to the incident. Tragically the male diver of the bakkie sustained severe injuries and died at the scene. The truck driver was extremely fortunate to escape with only minor injuries.
The road was partially closed for a while with “Stop and Go’s” in effect. At this time, there are still delays in the area and motorists are advised to approach the area with caution.
The scene of the accident is located approximately midway between Warden and the Villiers toll gate.
