A truck driver has gone missing after an alleged hijacking in Cato Ridge on Wednesday night.
The driver’s truck was discovered dumped in Estcourt the following morning, but the trailer and its precious cargo, a shipment of Adidas sneakers valued at R7 million, were nowhere to be found.
A frantic search ensued for both the missing driver and the stolen trailer.
Fortunately, a breakthrough came when the owner of the truck received vital information indicating that the trailer had been abandoned in Verulam.
Acting swiftly, Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) joined the effort, deploying resources to track down the missing trailer.

Their efforts paid off when they located the trailer, still attached to its shipping container, on the Old Main Road leading from Canelands to Tongaat.
Upon securing the scene, RUSA contacted the owner, who promptly arrived and positively identified the trailer and container.
However, hopes of recovering the stolen merchandise were dashed when it was discovered that the container had been emptied.
The entire shipment of Adidas takkies, valued at R7 million, had been stolen.
As the investigation continues, authorities are working tirelessly to locate the missing truck driver and bring those responsible for the hijacking and theft to justice.
