A truck driver has tragically lost his life after losing control of his Freightliner truck while descending the Hex River Pass in De Doorns this Wednesday afternoon.
According to paramedics, the accident occurred around 13:32 when Priority Care was dispatched to the scene.
Upon their arrival, they found the driver severely entrapped under the truck, and despite immediate rescue efforts, he sadly succumbed to his injuries.
The truck, which had overturned during the crash, spilled its entire load of grain across the road. The incident partially blocked the De Doorns-bound lanes, leading to significant traffic delays.
The cause of the crash is unknown at this stage. Recovery efforts are still underway, authorities are urging motorists to exercise caution when approaching the area.
