Drivers Warned of a Dug-Out Section on N14 at Lykso Between Vryburg and Kuruman

Motorists travelling on the N14 between Vryburg and Kuruman are urged to exercise extreme caution near Lykso due to severe damage caused by community protests. Protesters have dug out a section of the road, creating hazardous conditions for drivers.

SA Trucker reported about the violent protests in the area on Thursday morning.

The North West Department of Community Safety and Transport Management has deployed traffic officers to the area to guide motorists through the damaged stretch of highway.

However, drivers are strongly advised to reduce speed when approaching the affected area. Hitting the damaged section at high speed could lead to losing vehicle control, putting lives at risk.

This stretch of the N14 is particularly busy with heavy traffic, including side tipper trucks transporting loads from local mines to harbours.

The presence of these large vehicles further complicates the situation, making it even more crucial for all road users to remain vigilant.

The department is working on ensuring safety measures are in place until the road can be repaired.
