LIMPOPO — Things are getting hot for lawbreakers in Limpopo, as another six drivers have been bust for attempting to bribe traffic officers during a massive law enforcement blitz this weekend.
One of the latest to land behind bars is a 33-year-old male who allegedly tried to grease an officer’s palm with R200, hoping to dodge a drunk driving arrest.
Shame, it backfired badly — he was cuffed and hauled off to Mahwelereng SAPS for a date with the law.
This latest bust brings the total number of motorists arrested for bribery in the province to a whopping nine. Seems like some ouens don’t learn!
The National Traffic Police have been out in full force, running a no-nonsense operation that saw 170 drivers nailed for driving under the influence in just two days — Friday and Saturday, 25 and 26 April 2025.
Among the lot was a taxi driver from Tembisa, who was on his way to Limpopo, full load of passengers nogals, when he was caught overtaking on a barrier line — in a curve, somer! Turns out he was also tanked, blowing a shocking 0.41mg/l, well over the 0.10mg/l limit for professional drivers.
To make things worse, he also tried slipping a R200 bribe to the officers. Double trouble for that oke, with bribery charges now added to his rap sheet.

Authorities have made it crystal clear — drunk drivers and bribers will be dealt with, no skelm business will be tolerated.
Traffic cops will be out in full force the whole weekend, and they’ve warned motorists to keep it clean or face serious jail time.
“We will not be enticed. We will enforce the law without fear or favour,” said a spokesperson.
