‘Drunk’ truck driver killed in crash on R61

A truck driver has been killed in an accident on the R-61 between Port St Johns and Lusikisiki in the Eastern Cape.

Provincial traffic spokesperson, Charles Bramwell says the accident happened early on Thursday morning, when the man lost control around a bend. He says the vehicle, transporting bricks from Durban, rolled down an embankment.

Bramwell says a passenger in the truck was slightly injured, and told authorities that the driver was intoxicated.
