Durban Terminals temporarily halts operations due to adverse weather conditions

Transnet Port Terminals (TPT) Durban has temporarily put operations on hold from 19h30 on 11 April 2022 following adverse weather conditions which has hugely disrupted businesses in and around Durban.

TPT said that all the Durban Terminals which include Pier 1, 2, MPT, Car and Agri-terminals were on standby until the end of the adverse weather conditions.

In a correspondence to stakeholders, TPT said they were also experiencing high staff absenteeism due to damages to various routes they use to report to work.

“Transporters are requested to hold back on dispatching trucks to the Terminals until further notice. Trucks that are in the staging areas or inside the Terminal are welcome to leave the Terminal if they have a safer place to go to,”

“Please cancel all appointments on the system until further notice,

“Management will assess the situation at 14h00 and will provide further updates,” read the notice to stakeholders.

TPT said necessary extensions will be communicated in due course.
