Durban truck driver in shootout with woman over loading bay

A woman has been shot and wounded after an altercation with a delivery truck driver over parking space in Durban North.

The shootout happened at a shop in Kensington drive on Thursday afternoon just after lunchtime.

“The row started when a delivery truck driver got into an altercation with the woman who had parked in a loading bay on Adelaide Tambo Drive. She pulled out a firearm and fired once in his direction.

The driver in turn pulled out his firearm and allegedly fired two shots in her direction, one of the bullets grazed the woman’s leg, injuring her,” Durban North SAPS spokesman, Capt Raymond Deokaran said.

A case of attempted murder has been opened at the station and the injured woman has been taken to the hospital,” he said.

After preliminary investigations the woman was charged for pointing a firearm and carrying an unlicenced firearm.

Deokaran urged residents and motorists to cool the emotional temperature on the roads following the road rage incident.

This is the first incident of road rage recorded in the area this year.

In August last year a taxi driver was charged with malicious damage to property after he used his warning triangle to smash a motorist’s side mirror in a road rage incident on the N2 near the Sibaya off-ramp.
