Fatal Crash Involving Sekhukhune United’s Shaun Mogaila Captured on Dashcam

Sekhukhune United player Shaun Mogaila faces serious charges following a fatal motor vehicle accident that claimed the life of a nine-year-old girl.

The accident occurred on Thursday morning on Andrew Mapheto Road, leaving one other person seriously injured.

Dashcam footage of the accident, which has since surfaced, shows the collision involving Mogaila’s BMW and a Hyundai i10, driven by the girl’s mother.

Reports indicate that Mogaila, 29, initially fled the scene but later turned himself in to the police at Rabie Ridge Police Station in Midrand.

According to Ekurhuleni metro police spokesperson Thabiso Makgato, the nine-year-old girl was pronounced dead at the scene, while her 13-year-old sibling suffered serious injuries and was rushed to Thembisa Tertiary Hospital for treatment.

“A female driver was transporting her nine-year-old daughter who succumbed to injuries and was declared dead on the scene,” Makgato stated.

Authorities investigating the accident discovered bottles of alcohol and suspected drugs, including cocaine and cannabis edibles, inside Mogaila’s vehicle. They plan to conduct blood tests as part of the investigation.

Mogaila is set to appear in court to face charges of culpable homicide, reckless and negligent driving, and fleeing the scene of the accident.
