A tragic accident on the N1 has left two people dead and three others seriously injured.
The collision occurred about 5km before Richmond, heading from the Hanover side, in the early hours of today, Thursday 19 December 2024.
According to initial reports, a Freightliner truck and a Hyundai sedan collided under unclear circumstances. Two people, a male and a female, from the Hyundai were declared dead on the scene by paramedics.
The other two occupants of the sedan sustained serious injuries and were rushed to a nearby hospital.
The truck driver, who also suffered severe injuries, was transported to the hospital for urgent medical attention.

Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the crash.
