Five killed in truck head-on crash with car on R57 in Heilbron

Five people were killed when a truck collided head-on with a light motor vehicle on the R57, approximately 15km outside Heilbron on the Free State.

ER24 reported that they arrived at the scene at 13h45 to find other services already on the scene.

It was observed that a truck and light motor vehicle on the side of the road smashed together. Part of the car’s front part was underneath the truck.

On closer inspection, medics found the bodies of three women and two men trapped inside the car.

Unfortunately, nothing could be done for them, and they were declared dead.

The driver and passenger from the truck, fortunately, escaped injury.

Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
