A devastating crash on the N6 near Reddersburg has claimed at least ten lives and left more than 20 people injured after a collision involving a bus and a heavy motor vehicle.
Emergency services and law enforcement agencies rushed to the scene to assist the victims, with paramedics working tirelessly to treat the injured. The severity of the accident has resulted in a total road closure in the area.
Authorities have urged motorists to use alternative routes as recovery and investigations continue.
Alternative Routes:
- From Reddersburg: Traffic is being diverted via the R717 towards Edenburg (27 km). From Edenburg, take the N1 to Springfontein (69.5 km), then follow the R715 to Smithfield (103 km) back onto the N6.
- From Smithfield: Take the R715 to Springfontein, then join the N1 to Bloemfontein (140 km).

Speaking on the incident, Sipho Towa, Chairperson of the Free State Road Incident Management System (RIMS) and District Manager for EMS Communications, confirmed the fatalities and injuries.
Emergency responders remain on-site, and motorists are urged to exercise caution and follow diversion signs. Further updates will be provided as the situation develops.
