Durban – Four people have tragically died in an accident involving a side tipper truck and a car along the N2 between Amatigulu and Dokodweni in KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) on Saturday morning.
Preliminary reports suggest that the vehicles collided head-on causing both drivers to lose control and leave the road.
Authorities have confirmed four deaths at the scene, but it is unclear how many passengers were in both vehicles at the time of the crash.
The KZN transport department said the road traffic inspectorate is investigating the cause of the crash.
Spokesperson Ndabezinhle Sibiya explained that the Transport MEC, Siboniso Duma, is saddened by the incident.
“The accident happened shortly after the MEC had issued a report, informing the people of KwaZulu-Natal and the country as a whole of a very successful multi-disciplinary roadblock that took place last night until the wee hours of the morning,” Sibiya said.
