The Department of Petroleum and Mineral Resources has announced fuel price adjustments effective Wednesday, 5 March 2025, bringing slight relief to motorists and truckers.
Fuel Prices Update
After starting February on a trajectory toward increases, a stabilizing rand and shifts in global oil prices resulted in a minor decrease in fuel prices for March.
Here’s what to expect:
- Petrol 93 & 95: Decrease of 7 cents per litre
- Diesel 0.05%: Decrease of 17.5 cents per litre
- Diesel 0.005%: Decrease of 23.5 cents per litre
- Illuminating Paraffin: Decrease of 6 cents per litre
- LPGAS: Decrease of 2 cents per kg
What Caused the Drop?
- International diesel prices declined, while petrol and paraffin saw small increases.
- The rand strengthened slightly against the US dollar, reducing import costs.
- These factors led to a lower Basic Fuel Price, translating into reduced fuel prices.
