Hijacked LPG Tanker Truck Recovered, Three Suspects in Custody

Limpopo – Three suspects have been arrested following the hijacking of a truck transporting liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) along the R37 road outside the Westenburg policing area on 23 September 2025.

The Limpopo Provincial Commissioner of Police, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, praised the cooperation between Limpopo and Gauteng police, which led to the swift recovery of the hijacked truck and trailer.

Two suspects were arrested in Crosby and Mayfair in Johannesburg, while a third was apprehended in Meyersdal, Gauteng province.

“The coordinated efforts between our provinces show how effective interprovincial policing can be in tackling serious crimes like truck hijackings,” said Lieutenant General Hadebe.

The suspects are expected to appear before the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court. Police are urging truck drivers and the public to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activity on major routes.
