A swift multi-agency operation in Alrode on Tuesday led to the arrest of two suspects and the recovery of stolen truck tyres following intelligence shared through crime-fighting networks.

According to sources close to the investigation, the tyres had been stolen earlier in the morning in Benoni before being tracked to an industrial area in Alrode where the load was allegedly being transferred to another truck.

CPS Security Tactical teams moved in alongside SAPS Highway Patrol and private security units, catching suspects in the act of offloading the stolen goods. Officers immediately intercepted the operation and detained two suspects at the scene.

One of the trucks found at the premises has since been confirmed as hijacked, raising concerns that the tyre theft may be linked to broader organised crime activities targeting freight operators.

Security officials involved in the operation credited collaborative policing, information sharing, and quick response as key factors in the successful interception.

Investigations are ongoing, and further arrests have not been ruled out as authorities probe possible links to syndicates involved in cargo theft and truck hijackings.
