Intercape opens CV drop-off week for experienced coach drivers across Southern Africa

Experienced coach drivers looking for their next opportunity have a chance to put their CVs directly in front of Intercape during a dedicated CV Drop-Off Week running from 5 to 11 October 2026.

The long-distance passenger operator is inviting drivers to visit designated Intercape depots and offices between 07:30 and 16:00 during the recruitment drive.

The advertised locations include Botswana, Maputo, Namibia, Cape Town, Mossel Bay, Durban, Pretoria, Upington, Bloemfontein, Gqeberha, East London and Mthatha.

Drivers are encouraged to arrive with their CV if they meet the relevant licensing and experience requirements.

What Intercape is looking for

Intercape’s current careers listing for its Professional Coach Driver – Long Distance position states that applicants must be South African citizens with a valid Code 14 driver’s licence and PrDP. The company lists Grade 10 as the minimum educational requirement and requires three to five years of long-distance driving experience, specifically covering journeys of 400 km or more.

Other requirements listed by Intercape include clear speech, bilingual ability in a mother tongue and English, reliable transport, valid references from previous employers and an accident-free driving record with no serious motor vehicle accidents.

Successful applicants must also be prepared to undergo SAPS clearance and licence verification, as well as three weeks of training.

More than just driving

The coach driver role involves considerably more than getting passengers from A to B.

According to Intercape, duties include conducting pre-trip inspections, driving in accordance with K53 requirements and company policy, loading luggage, passenger care, en-route duties and onboard administration, including passenger and ticket validation and onboard ticket sales.

Drivers are also responsible for coach hygiene, managing breakdowns, enforcing safety requirements and using the prescribed company systems.

Intercape says driver training is an integral part of employment. Its Training Academy, which has facilities in Cape Town and Pretoria, is accredited by SAQA and TETA.

The company also highlights a number of safety measures across its coach operation, including driver training and continuous re-evaluation, satellite vehicle tracking, DriveCam technology and strict driver-hour management.

Where to submit your CV

Drivers interested in the CV Drop-Off Week should visit their nearest participating Intercape depot or office between 5 and 11 October, from 07:30 to 16:00.

Intercape’s careers page also provides an online application facility for vacancies, while its current coach-driver listing gives [email protected] as an application contact, using the reference “PROFESSIONAL COACH DRIVER – LONG DISTANCE”.

If you’ve got the licence, the long-distance experience and you’re ready for the next leg of your career, this is one CV drop-off worth making.
