A truck driver working for Izusa Carriers, identified as Thabo Makhubo from Bethlehem, tragically passed away yesterday afternoon while waiting in a queue at Komatipoort.
According to witnesses, Makhubo was discovered motionless in the driver’s seat of his truck, which was still idling, after another driver behind him went to check when he didn’t move forward with the rest of the queue. The grim discovery has left fellow truckers shaken.
One of Makhubo’s colleagues, who spoke to SA Trucker on condition of anonymity, said it was his first trip after returning from his off days. “He had just come back from home and was doing his first trip. It’s really sad what happened,” the driver said.
Authorities are yet to confirm the cause of his death, but it’s believed he may have passed away while waiting in line, possibly from natural causes. Police investigations are underway.

The trucking community has expressed deep sorrow at the loss of one of their own. “He was a quiet, humble guy who minded his own business. We’re all heartbroken,” said another trucker who knew him.
SA Trucker extends heartfelt condolences to Thabo Makhubo’s family, friends, and colleagues during this difficult time. May his soul rest in peace.
