Izusa Carriers Orchard Trucks Explained as Temporary Storage During Transfer to Johannesburg

The mystery surrounding Izusa Carriers trucks spotted in an orchard near Mbombela has now been clarified, with confirmation that the vehicles were temporarily parked there while being transported to Johannesburg.

The image, which went viral earlier this week, showed several Izusa Carriers-branded truck and trailer combinations positioned inside what appeared to be an orchard, sparking speculation online that the company may have been hiding assets amid growing liquidation fears.

However, new information obtained by SA Trucker paints a different picture.

Temporary Stop During Transit

According to Werner Boshoff, who assisted the company responsible for moving the trucks from Izusa Carriers’ premises, the vehicles were placed at the location as a temporary measure during transit.

“It was just temporary parking while the trucks were being moved. The plan was always to take them to a safer place in Johannesburg,” Boshoff told SA Trucker.

Boshoff explained that the company responsible for transporting the trucks had difficulty securing suitable overnight parking, leading to the decision to use the site.

Location Identified

The site has been identified as a portion of a farm in Mbombela, which SA Trucker verified. While previously used for agricultural purposes, the land was rezoned as an industrial area in 2024, making it legally suitable for such use.

Financier-Directed Asset Protection

It has also been confirmed that the trucks were moved under instruction from various financing institutions, including Scania Finance and other relevant asset financiers, as part of a standard asset protection and recovery process.

Importantly, neither Scania Finance nor Izusa Carriers were involved in selecting the specific temporary parking location used during transit.

Viral Image Sparked Misleading Claims

The original image triggered widespread speculation on social media, with some users suggesting that the trucks were being hidden.

However, the latest clarification indicates that the situation was part of a standard asset recovery and relocation process, rather than any attempt to conceal vehicles.

Context Remains Critical

The incident comes at a sensitive time for Izusa Carriers, which remains under financial pressure following the rejection of business rescue plans, increasing the likelihood of liquidation or a structured wind-down.

While the viral image raised concerns about asset handling, the confirmed details suggest the situation was logistical rather than suspicious.

Focus Shifts Back to Bigger Picture

With the orchard mystery now clarified, attention returns to the broader challenges facing Izusa Carriers, including unpaid wages, creditor decisions, and uncertainty over the company’s future.

As developments continue, the handling of assets and the outcome of the business rescue process will remain under close scrutiny.
