In a significant development for South Africa’s freight and logistics industry, Izusa Carriers (Pty) Ltd, which entered business rescue in March 2025, has successfully had its Business Rescue Plan adopted by an overwhelming majority of creditors and affected parties.
The results of the vote, held on 10 July 2025, were announced in an official communication from the business rescue practitioners. A staggering 99.98% of votes were cast in favour of the proposed rescue plan, with a minuscule 0.02% voting against it. This decisive mandate gives the appointed practitioners, Thomas George Nell and PJ Corné van Staden, the green light to begin implementing the plan aimed at reviving the struggling trucking firm.
Relief for Workers and Creditors
The adoption of the plan brings a glimmer of hope for employees, suppliers, and other affected parties who were left in limbo when Izusa was placed under supervision on 7 March. For many truck drivers and their families, this outcome offers a lifeline, as jobs and income now have a chance of being preserved, provided the plan is executed successfully.
Creditors, too, now have a structured roadmap on how they will be paid, as the plan includes timelines and terms for settling pre-rescue debts.

With the plan formally adopted, Izusa Carriers will now begin the implementation phase, where the business rescue practitioners will work to stabilise operations, restructure financial commitments, and possibly restore profitability. The details of the plan have not yet been made public, but its adoption signals a vote of confidence in the company’s ability to bounce back.
Industry Impact
Izusa Carriers is a major player in the long-haul trucking sector. The firm’s potential collapse would have had ripple effects throughout the transport and logistics supply chain. The adoption of the business rescue plan helps to stem that bleeding, at least for now.
SA Trucker will continue to follow the proceedings closely and provide updates as the rescue plan unfolds.
